What is Search Engine Optimisation?

In simple terms, Search engine optimisation (also referred to as website optimisation) is the process of reviewing your website and making changes to make it perform better.

How to get a high ranking in Google

There is unfortunately no magical answer to this question. It comes about as a combination of factors and can take time. A well optimised and correctly designed website are two important elements.

Other elements that assist in obtaining better rankings are :

  • The number of quality and relevant inbound links to your website
  • The age of your website
  • Quality of the content & regular content updates
  • A well designed, well structured website
  • On page factors such as the 'Title' & 'Meta' tags and Internal Linking

Good SEO Vs Bad SEO

Essentially there is more than one way top optimise a website. One is 'ethical' (White Hat) and one (Black Hat) is not.

White Hat Search Engine Optimisation uses recognised and legitimate methods and will ensure that you have a positive long term effect on your website. We only use 'White Hat' (ethical) SEO methods and do not condone the use of any other methods.

Black Hat on the other hand uses methods such as 'keyword stuffing', 'doorway pages' and 'hidden text' which are viewed as underhand. While these may increase your rankings temporarily, they will ultimately be detrimental and you may end up with your site being blacklisted amd dropped from the Google listings altogether.
